For several versions of the script, characters known as the Cabbage Heads had lived harmoniously alongside the Boxtrolls in one expansive underground cave. Gentle in nature, the Cabbage Heads were ruled by a benevolent queen who functioned as a sort of den mother to the entire brood. As time went on, the Cabbage Heads, like others before them who had taken up valuable story space, were removed from the script, and the industrious little Boxtrolls remained the sole inhabitants of the underground cavern, free to muck it up as they saw fit.
